Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon

Sometimes you just need a little something extra to complement a special event.

A promotion. Completing a project. Winning an award.

Or simply coming together around a holiday table.

Cakebread Cellars in Napa (which I've visited!) has a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon that has all the elements of a great cab: luscious, dark, and rich. With complex dark chocolate and berry aromas,  it tastes of blackberry and fig, and has a long finish with smooth tannins. This would be delightful alongside anything beef or something with lots of umami, like a cassoulet.

Splurge alert.

It's $65, but if you're looking for a memorable accompaniment alongside a great meal, this cab would be worth it.

Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Scents of dark cherry and blackberry are subtly layered with warm notes of vanilla and flourishes of cocoa and sweet tobacco. Quite a delightful Cab.

Want a bottle? Here you go. At $72, it's a nice, well-worth-it splurge.

Duca Enrico

By J.T.

The first single varietal wine to be produced from Nero d’Avola grapes in the history of Sicilian wine, the Duca Enrico is strong, round, and well-balanced, with woody scents and a blend of ripe fruit, irises and spices. Absolutely delightful.

This usually retails for $78.99, but at the time of this posting, it's on sale for $55.99. Better hurry while it lasts, folks!
